Murder Mysteries, Snow Storms & Oral Surgery
The Weekend John and I went to our Murder Mystery weekend Friday afternoon in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania. I stayed on a regular schedule of pain killers and was able to get through the entire weekend without pain. There was a ton of food, and I had to eat lightly because I could only chew on one side of my mouth. We really cleaned up on prizes, too... John and I won a prize for our love bird costumes at the masquerade party -- a nice bottle of white wine. We also won 2nd prize in solving the mystery at the end of the weekend, we got all the quiz questions right except one. We won a T-shirt and a book... We're thrilled because the mysteries are SUPER HARD to solve, and this is the closest we've ever come to figuring the whole thing out. Following are a few highlight pics:

Snow Storm Sunday night it snowed and I stayed home from work Monday. I don't remember doing much other than recovering from the weekend. John and I watched some videos, American Wedding, Bad Boys II and League of Extrodinary Gentlemen. Tuesday I went to work, but my train was delayed, and I didn't get to the office until 11AM. The Federal government closed early, so I went home at 1:00 PM. I should have stayed home.
Oral Surgery Today, Wednesday, I got my wisdom teeth (top 2) taken out. So, I didn't go to work again. So far it hasn't been painful (knock on wood). They gave me such powerful drugs in the dental office that I wasn't even aware they were working on me. I woke up and it was over. I went home and started taking pain killers every four hours. So far, so good. The worst thing is not being able to eat solid food. So far, I've eaten two jello pudding cups, a cup of yogurt and a tiny bowl of mashed boiled eggs because I'm on sugar overload. I can't drink anything carbonated or eat anything hot.
Sigh.

Toothache
Yesterday could very well be the most miserable day of my life. I have a horrendous toothache. I know I should have had my wisdom teeth pulled when I was younger. But it's hard to have major oral surgery when you're not in pain.
Well, now I'm in pain. Unfortunately, after seeing two dentists yesterday, they did nothing for me. I have to wait until Wednesday to have the surgery done. That means all be away at my Mystery Weekend tomorrow trying to suffer through the pain. Sometimes the IB ibuprofen works but when it's not working, it's really not working.
I don't know how they expect me to make it through an entire week. On the up side, I'm glad to get this over now instead of the week of my wedding or honeymoon. And John was so loving and sweet during this time. He stayed home from work yesterday to take me to his dentist. He stayed with me all day, bringing me ice, cold drinks or just rubbing my back. I don't think I could love him more if I tried. He's just the best guy in the world.

Wedding Dances
Go Forth Ye and Multiply popular dance at weddings, this one starts with the featured couple on the dance floor. After a minute or so, Michael will announce "go forth ye and multiply" and the couple goes and finds two more dance partners. This continues until the whole crowd is involved. Musical style can be slow, fast, a waltz, a polka, a tango or a swing - it's your choice!
DISCO Line - A line of women face a line of men and the end couple meets and dances down the center of the two lines. Songs like"We Are Family", "Staying Alive", "Get Down Tonight", and "Good Times" are excellant songs for this.
Get Down Tonight - This line dance gets everybody in a funky 70's groove. Shake that booty, strut your stuff and get down tonight!
Cotton Eye Joe - A simple country dance done with several lines of two to six people traveling in a circle. Easy to learn, easy to do and lots of fun! Done to traditional music or to a newer contemporary dance version.
Anniversary Celebration Dance - This is a tribute to the commitment couples have given their marriage. It begins with an invitation for all married couples to come to the dance floor and then, as the song progresses, we proceed in 5 year increments, asking the shorter marriages to step aside. This eventually leaves the longest married couple with our guests of honor. We can then ask them their secret, how they met and give them a round of applause.

They're Having A Baby!
Last weekend we found out that our dear friends Sharon & Bill McNett are having a baby! Woo-hoo! Sharon is the Matron of Honor in our wedding and Bill will be a groomsmen. We're so happy and excited for them. The baby will be here in August. I can't wait.

Long Weekend
Friday After work, John and I met my friend Louis and his girlfriend for dinner. Louis is a reader in my wedding. He and his girlfriend are going to Africa this week, two weeks ago they were in the Caribean. This couple travels a lot. We had a great meal of Greek/Turkish tapas. The restaurant was really nice and we had a lot of good conversation.
Saturday I was supposed to go shopping with my MOH and one of my bridesmaids, but I had already started feeling sick and I didn't feel like tramping around the mall. Instead they came over that afternoon and we watched a video (Bruce Almighty) and ate snacks. When John came home that evening, we all went out to Outback Steakhouse to celebrate my BM Kristin's birthday (it was the day before). By the end of the night, I felt like dirt and we stopped at the drug store for medicine. Kristin spent the night.
Sunday I woke up early and Kristin and I sat in the living room talking for hours. When John got up for the day, we ordered pizza and sat around in our pajamas. Eventually Kristin went home and John and I watched television together.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I was still sick so I mostly laid in bed and watched TV. I feel like those days were really wasted, but there wasn't much I could do.

Happy 2004!
New Year's Eve
I worked that day, but got off work at 2:00. That night John and I went out to a nightclub in DC with his sister Lydie who was visiting from California. We had a good time dancing in the New Year until our feet hurt. I was dead tired by the time we left and I fell asleep on the drive home.
John and his sister stayed up all night playing video games.
Here are my New Year Resolutions:
1. Be neater
2. Finish my scrapbook project
3. Write another book
4. Take some trips
5. Get married!
