Anniversary Celebration

Last night we celebrated our three year dating anniversary, and it was really nice. John picked me up from work and we drove to the dance studio to practice our first dance. I tried to break in my wedding shoes. I may have to get new ones because today my left foot feels like it's broken and it was definitely the shoes that did it.

Afterward we tried to make our way to the restaurant where we always celebrate... but traffic was horrible and once we got through it... we got lost. We were in NW DC and the restaurant was in NE. Anyway, 40 minutes late we finally made.

They gave us a private booth enclosed with a curtain, so it was a very romantic dinner. I've been doing Weight Watcher's so I actually got full after the first courst and barely wanted to eat my entree. We both orded filet mignon with shrimp. I ate the filet and the shrimp but couldn't touch the mashed potatoes or veggies.

We drove home to exchange gifts. John saw the big package I had for him and was noticably guilty. He kept "apologizing" for his gift before I even saw it. I opened mine first... he got me those Singing Snowmen from Halmark. Maybe you've seen them on the commercial.

Then he opened his. I got him a two casual shirts, two button-down shirts and a fleece pull-over. Everything fit and he loved it. I really love buying him clothes, and the nice thing is that he really enjoys wearing what I get for him.

In Honor of Stupid People

This joke made me laugh!

In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods.

On a Sears hairdryer: Do not use while sleeping.

(Damn, and that's the only time I have to work on my hair).

On a bag of Fritos: You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside.

(the shoplifter special)?

On a bar of Dial soap: "Directions: Use like regular soap."

(and that would be how???....)

On some Swanson frozen dinners: "Serving suggestion: Defrost."

(but, it's "just" a suggestion).

On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom): "Do not turn upside down."

(well...duh, a bit late, huh)!

On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding: "Product will be hot after heating."

(...and you thought????...)

On packaging for a Rowenta iron: "Do not iron clothes on body."

(but wouldn't this save me more time)?

On Boot's Children Cough Medicine: "Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication."

(We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5-year-olds with head-colds off those forklifts.)

On Nytol Sleep Aid: "Warning: May cause drowsiness."

(and...I'm taking this because???....)

On most brands of Christmas lights: "For indoor or outdoor use only."

(as opposed to...what)?

On a Japanese food processor: "Not to be used for the other use."

(now, somebody out there, help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)

On Sainsbury's peanuts: "Warning: contains nuts."

(talk about a news flash)

On an American Airlines packet of nuts: "Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts."

(Step 3: maybe, uh...fly Delta?)

On a child's superman costume: "Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly."

(I don't blame the company. I blame the parents for this one.)

On a Swedish chainsaw: "Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals."

(Oh my God...was there a lot of this happening somewhere?)

Bridezilla is Born

I had my first Bridezilla moment...

I took my bridesmaids to Macy's to look at dresses--since this is where I bought my dress, and they would get a discount. But, I was concerned that the dresses there were still too expensive, so I was prepared to let them get the dress they chose somewhere else if they wanted.

Well, the sales girl at Macy's told me several times in the presence of all my BM that they "beat prices" and that we should shop around and let them know what we find.

Based on this, my MOH called every store in the metropolitan Washington area and found the dress for $49 cheaper. I went back to Macy's and asked them to match the price and the manager didn't know what I was talking about.

I found the sales girl and suddenly she's telling me a new story. Something lame to the effect of "I said, we match prices if we can, but some prices are too low and then we can't". Yeah, that's what you told me.

So, I went back and forth with her because this once courteous woman had now copped an attitude as if to imply one should not be cheap if one wants to shop at Macy's. This brought out my bridezilla because it never would have occured to me to try to price-match if she hadn't specifically told me to do so. All the drama was caused by her not being aware of store policy and nothing that we'd done wrong.

When all was said and done, I got them to give us the dress for $145 instead of $181.

To be continued...

Wow, Survivor has been really good this season. I think this may actually be the best season of Survivor they've done yet. That's saying a lot because I was starting the think the whole concept was getting old.

The pirate theme was the first really brilliant step to reviving the show. From there they've just been throwing in one great twist after another. The best one to date is letting previous survivors back into the game. I have no idea how they're going to make this work, but it should be fascinating.

The previous show was so action packed they couldn't finish it all in one night. I can't wait to see how the second part plays out in this week's Survivor!

Moving Along

Now that it's November there are more To-Do's for the wedding. So far we've ordered invitations and picked out bridesmaid dresses. This month we really need to decide what we want to do for wedding rings, order bridesmaid dresses and I need find bridal accessories and find someone to style my hair.

So much to do... still plenty of time!
