Tomorrow is the first day of my OFFICIAL wedding diet. I've been eating out of control all summer, so there's no getting around the need to go back on Weight Watchers.
This will be my first attempt at WW after the change in their points system. Another woman I've spoken with doesn't care for the new structure. We'll see how it goes, because I've got to fit into my wedding dress in April.
No, I'm not talking about that questionable meat product... I'm talking about e-mail spam. It should be against the law to fill up someone's inbox with inane crap that's 99% fraudulent anyway.
People who want porn have no trouble finding it on their own... no need to hand deliver it to everyone at once. People who are fat, need to enlarge certain appendages or want to work at home can also find the appropriate services on their own. What makes them think sending anonymous annoying e-mails will convince me to use their products.
In all honesty, I'd go out of my way not to use it after they've ticked me off from the word go. Just like those fools who put flyers under your car's windshield wipers. The ones you don't notice until you've already pulled off and suddenly realize you can't see... those people are not getting my business either.
They are cracking down on telemarketing... why can't they crack down on Spam?
Even though the strength of this storm has supposedly decreased to a Category 2, it still appears to be a mighty impressive force.

Let us all pray for the best and prepare for the worst.
This movie, starring Antonio Banderas and Johnny Depp was a sequel to El Mariachi and Desperado. I didn't see El Mariachi as it was subtitled, but I remember really enjoying Desparado.
OUaTiM was a more somber film than the fast-pasted Desperado. You knew something terrible had happened since the last movie, you could even guess what it was, but it wasn't revealed right away. I didn't re-watch Desperado before going to see the new movie, so I didn't quite remember where we left off. Nevertheless, the movie was easy to follow, especially since the story centered more around Johnny Depp's character than Banderas's.
The unbelievable action was still there plus some great guitar shooting stunts. Parts of the story got to be a bit to gorry for my preference, but all in all, I'd say this final chapter of the trillogy is worth watching if you're curious how the El Mariachi story ends.
Today is a depressing day. I don't really want to go to work and I wish Robyn could stay home. The world does not feel any safer. In fact, because of Baby Bush's war-mongering in Iraq, I believe the world is far LESS safer than ever.
Not sure why I still watch this stupid reality show. Big Brother 4 stinks this season. I hate all the remaining houseguest. I wish I had the willpower to just turn it off and forget about it.
At least the new fall season is back. ENTERPRISE was great. This season looks like it will be really good. Can't wait for ALIAS to start back up either. Not sure if I have any other shows that I care about. I'll watch Survivor, but I will not watch Joe Millionaire. Once was enough, thank you very much.
When I was in high school, we studied Greek mythology and Shakespeare. The interlocking theme is that the epic heros always have a fatal flaw. Oedipus would have been a great man if only he didn't lust after his mother <--now that's what I call a fatal flaw.
So, epic heroine that I am, I'd have to say my fatal flaw is procrastination. One day it will truly bring me to ruin. I love to put things off until tomorrow. Tomorrow comes but it turns into today, leaving me a new tomorrow.
I have more to say on this subject, but I'm feeling tired, so I'll finish it up tomorrow.
This weekend it was Bad Rental Fest at John and Robyn's.
**Cradle to the Grave. Jet Li & DMX. Fast action. Unbelievably lame plot. I fell asleep before the end. Even if you're a huge Jet Li fan, you could probably skip this one comfortably.
*Rules of Attraction. James Vanderbeek & Shannyn Sossamon. Truly bizarre. Skip it.
*Head of State. Chris Rock & Bernie Mack. Mildly funny; mostly ridiculous. Skip it.
***One Hour Photo. Robin Williams & Michael Vartan. Sadly, this is the best movie we watched all weekend. For a chilling but brilliant performance by Robin Williams, rent this movie when you're in the mood to be gently creeped out!
Yay! Robyn sent in her revised manuscript to her editor today. So now it should go into production, which I think is cause for much celebration. It's been a long time coming with this book, I'm so happy that she finally completed it. I'm so proud too.
I floated! Can you believe it? After 31 years, I can float on the water. Admittedly not very well, but it's a start.
Robyn and I had our first class of SWIM 1 at the community college today. I have to admit that I'm a little peeved that EVERYONE in that class has some basic swimming skill and just want to become better swimmers. I would have been a little more comfortable if their were a few more start-from-scratch swimmers like myself. Oh well! I plan to be the best swimmer by the end of that class. :-)
Yea! Finally, the NFL season is here... And we won our first game, 16-13 against the Jets at home.

There's nothing like watching football. It's always an event.
Yet I was a little worried about this first game. After all the hype on the MALL (The NFL Kickoff Live w/Britney Spears, Aerosmith, etc.) and waiting all day for the 9 pm start time, I felt set-up for a letdown. And knowing that I'd have to wait a whole 9 days, instead of the usual 7, it would have doubly sucked to lose this one.
The same night we rented Bowling for Columbine, we rented Chicago. What a pair these two movies make. Columbine is a documentary on guns violence in America and Chicago is a musical about women trying to beat murder wraps for shooting the men in their lives.
I really enjoyed Chicago, too. Who knew all those celebrities could sing? I sure didn't expect Richard Gere to be able to carry a tune. Then again, technology is a wonderful thing... I don't know how much was talent vs. studio magic.
But, all in all, the show was cute. I've never seen the stage play, so I didn't even know what the plot was supposed to be about. Queen Lattifah was definitely a favorite of mine and I've always liked ... the blonde chick. What is her name? You know, from Jerry Mcguire? "You had me at hello?"
Darn it! I'm too lazy to look up her name and I'm too fried from a days work to remember it... so, rent it and see for yourself.
I love how I'm writing this like someone other than John and me are reading this blog... but it's fun to pretend we actually have an audience. :)
A few weeks ago we rented Bowling for Columbine, a documentary on guns in America directed by Michael Moore.
I really enjoyed this movie. I've always believed in gun control and some very surprising issues were discussed. He challenged our stereotypical beliefs on why America has more gun violence than most other countries. I'm not surprised that Moore won an Oscar for this piece last year. I feel he really deserved it.
Some highlights of the movie included:
~Taking some Columbine survivors back to Walmart to "return" the bullets still lodged in their bodies.
~The contrast between gun violence in Canada and the US. I can't believe Canadians don't lock their doors!
~ The piece de resistance was Moore's final interview with Charleton Heston.
I recomend this movie highly! It will make you think!
